This year has been a whirlwind of events. Alfredo had a heart episode on March 31st where they believed he was have a heart attack (non-STEMI). We was trasnferred from WNH to St. Francis and after a couple day stay in the CICU, he was sent home with a diagnosis of Myocarditis. He followed-up with Dr. Shaheen, the cardiologist for a treadmill and such and did just fine. I still worry about him sometimes but he tells me not to worry.
We were supposed to move out of our home on Red Sky Ct. in April because we sold it and had a contract in on another home. Well, the structural inspection was just terrible on the one we were going to purchase, so we backed out. We went forward with the sell of our home though. So, Fredo was on restrictions and thankfully my dad and brother helped us move out before the closing date. We couldn't be more thankful! We were going to rent until we found another home but when we were planning all of that Fredo had his episode, and we weren't really sure what predicament we were going to be in. So graciously, my dad let us move in with him. Without hesitation, he accepted five people and really Elaina equates to two because babies require so much stuff. We were so grateful for him. So, we moved in with dad for an unknown amount of time.
We went on a wonderful vacation with friends at the end of May and while we were in Mexico, a house came on the market that checked most of our boxes. From Mexico, we worked with our realtor and had my mother and brother go look at the house for us and Facetimed during the process. It was difficult to really see anything because the phone was moving so fast a lot of it was a blur. From what we could see and read, we really loved it. Or, from what my husband tells me now, I loved it and he was hesitant. Regardless, we put in an offer while still in Mexico. We heard back that we needed to give our best offer because there were 5 other bids on the home. So we did, and it still wasn't the highest so they were moving on with the highest offer. We were bummed, but have always just said it would work itself out and when it was meant to be, it would be. We flew home to Iowa to pick up our kids and spend a few days with Fredo's family. While we were there our realtor called us and said the highest bidder couldn't get financing and we were next. If we still wanted it, we just needed to sign the contract and proceed. Still sight unseen in person, we went with it.
July 6th, 2016 we moved in to our new home! It really is what we were looking for and we LOVE it! Each kid has their own bedroom, 3 acres to run around, and more room than we know what to do with. I have my kitchen, formal dining room, fireplace and a big closet. We have double sinks in the bathroom so Fredo can clean his own (lol) and the girls do too. I really do love this home. It's older and has wonderful characteristics that I adore. Lovely shutters, hidden spaces, and it really is unique and what I wanted. I wanted to stray away from the cookie cutter, everyone has the same house neighborhoods. Not because those homes aren't beautiful, but because that just wasn't what I wanted. Alfredo now concedes that he loves this house even though he wasn't for sure just from the pictures.
I can see many, many memories being made in our home, and I have been spending time making it our own. Painting, decorating, and figuring it all out! The kids are really enjoying it and Elaina has plenty of space to run around. There's two steps she has to navigate and she is a pro. Roman even loves it because the neighbors have 3 little dogs and he can run free with them.
Sometimes I overthink things. I research, plan, investigate, and complicate everything. It was a blessing that it worked out the way that it did. We spent more money than we said we would, but it was totally worth it and we are so very happy!
